Kersplat!

So, I'm doing a little preschool curriculum with the kiddos this summer.  It's through Funshine Express.  It's great because they plan everything out for you...themes, activities, books, recipes, worksheets, etc.  And the kids are loving it!

The kiddos hard at work!

Every month has three themes and the first theme for June is dairy.  So, our art activity for today was called 'Kersplat!'  The kids made a picture of an ice cream cone going kersplat on the floor.

Chayce spreading his out

Here's what you need:

  • shaving cream
  • glue
  • construction paper (brown and another color)
  • sprinkles
  • bowl
  • spoon or paintbrush
Vann putting his sprinkles on
Chayce sprinkling his sprinkles on
Mia getting her sprinkle on

Here's what you do:
  • cut a big triangle out of the brown construction paper (depending on the age of your kids they can cut their own)
  • mix equal parts shaving cream and glue together (I let the kids decorate the brown cone with markers while I mixed this up)
  • let the kids spread/paint (small spoons worked well for us) the mixture on the colored paper (near the bottom works best so, you have room to put your cone on top)
  • glue the cone on upside down so, it looks like the ice cream cone fell over
  • sprinkle the sprinkles on the ice cream

The kids' kersplat creations!
See how fluffy the shaving cream made it ...and this is after it's been drying for a couple of hours...pretty neat!
