Happy Thanksgiving!

How was your Thanksgiving?  Our was good!  We went up to Chris's Dad's house for an early dinner.  Food was yummy!  I love Thanksgiving because of all the good food.  And I'm a sides girl...I eat a tiny bit of turkey and load the rest of my plate up with all the side dishes...mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, everything.  And then I eat until I'm stuffed!

After Thanksgiving at Chris's Dad's, we headed home, put the boys to bed and I got my Black Friday shopping outfit on...comfy sweatshirt and shoes...oh and some layers in case we had to stand outside in any lines.  That's right, I did it...my first year of Black Friday shopping!  Paige picked me up at 10:30pm and we headed to Toysrus.  Since they opened at 9pm, we thought we would miss any lines...we were wrong.  The line wasn't too terribly long, but long enough.  We stood outside for about 30 minutes.  And it was chilly outside...not super cold, but cold enough.  Once we got inside the store we got our shop on!

After Toysrus, we headed to Target...no lines outside...however the checkout line there was crazy long!  We were in line behind a super friendly man though and he was telling us all about how crazy people were at Walmart when he was there earlier.  He witnessed a couple of fights that got the police involved...seriously people!  Shopping in the middle of the night is crazy enough...getting into a fight over a toy or tv is just plain ridiculous!

When we finally got checked out at Target, we took our tired butts over to Kohls.  Again the line here was super long.  But that's to be expected since it is Black Friday.  We finished our shopping around 4ish.  I know...we're crazy, but it was fun!  We both got a lot of our Christmas shopping done and saved a lot of money in the process.  And if there's one thing I love, it's saving money!

The goods!

The worst part about the whole night was watching people shop with their kids.  Infants, toddlers, preschoolers, you name it, we saw them.  Most of them crying because they should've been home in bed, since ya know it was in the middle of the night and all.  And what was most annoying about seeing them out was that most of the time they were with both parents!  Why couldn't one of them just stay home?!

Did anyone else hit the stores on Black Friday?

In other news...I took my ring into get fixed Wednesday night...should be about 10 days he said.  Until then my finger is naked.

Have you heard of Elf of the Shelf?  Well, since I've heard such great things about it, I thought this year I'd start the tradition with our boys.  So, last night we read the book.  And Vann was so into it!  He couldn't wait to see where our elf was going to be in the morning.  For those of you who don't know...Santa sends an elf to your house and he watches to see if you're being good or bad.  And every night he goes back to the North Pole to report to Santa.  And when he comes back, he sits in a different spot in your house.  So, in the morning, the kids are excited to look for their elf.  A fun part of the tradition is that you get to name your elf. The kids decided to name ours Yoshi.  So, this morning the boys found Yoshi sitting on the curtain rod in the living room.  Vann's face was priceless!
