Speckled Hens

These hens are one of my favorites.  They blended and created textures and outlined and really made their hens come to life!  Just wait you'll see...

My lil artists at work.

Painting the fence.
Different shades of brown
make it look really cool.

Painting the grass.

Adding her eye.

Outlining her in black.

Two lil feet.

Working on making it look feathery.

Lil cutie!

Almost done!

So focused, I love it.

An orange beak.

Chayce's white hen is perfect!

Ash did amazing!

Vann's fluffy hen, I love her!

Cubist Bird

We learned all about Picasso last month so some of our art was inspired by him.  Like this adorable Cubist Bird.  This was a multi step project and Ash did amazing!

Drawing his bird with an oil pastel.

He's pretty proud!
Adding a few more lines.

Then he painted his bird with liquid watercolors.

These paints are so vibrant, I like 'em!

A little green right here...

Almost done!

While his paint dried he decorated another sheet of paper with oil pastels.

Then he cut out his bird and glued it onto his paper.

He's a great lil cutter.  And a pretty amazing lil artist!

Grandma was in town and the boys were loving on her every chance they got!

Dancing Cow

Are you ready for the most adorable dancing cow ever?!  Ash loooved this project.  First he drew his cow with a black oil pastel, then he painted it and began dancing around the house himself!

What I love about the lessons in Deep Space Sparkle is how Patty breaks down each project into simple steps so the kiddos can be successful in creating them.  If I told Ash to draw a cow, he wouldn't know where to start.  Shoot I wouldn't know where to start.  But when I say first draw the eyes, then a square for the nose, then his head, ears, body, etc.  I walk him through each step so he's not overwhelmed and before you know it he has the cutest lil dancing cow I've ever seen!

After he drew his cow, he painted it with liquid watercolors.

Painting his grass.

And now his sky.

Okay so check out his fence...really good right?!  When I first said now it's time to make a fence, Ash immediately said I can't do that.  This was after drawing that amazing cow!  So we broke it into steps and focused on making rectangles and then connecting them.  This made is easy for him.  And the look on his face when he realized he drew a fence...priceless!

By the way...that's an udder lol.

He loooves his dancing cow!!  And so do I!

Sunny Sunflowers

I have so many fun art projects to share with you!  All of them are from my most fav art website, Deep Space Sparkle.  I'm a part of the Members Club and it's amazing!  So many wonderful projects at my fingertips for all my kiddos...worth every penny.  This Sunny Sunflower was completed over a few days...painting, cutting, gluing, all kinds of fun stuff!

First they made orange and yellow painted paper using sponges and plastic knives to make cool patterns in the paint.

Then they made blue and purple painted paper.

Time to cut out their petals, stems and leaves!
I love Ash's focused face...he gets so into it.

And glue them on to make a beautiful Sunny Sunflower!
Ash doesn't like to get messy during art time.  He's checking for glue on his finger lol.

Love them!!  Bridget's is on the left.  Ash's is on the right.

Sea Turtles

I let the boys pick out our art project last Friday.  Chaycers was begging to do these Sea Turtles!  So that's what we did.  And they turned out beautiful!

First they drew their turtles with pencil.

Then they traced them
with a black oil pastel.
Speaking of black oil pastels,
I need to get more.

Adding some seaweed.
And little fish.

Time to paint!
Getting a little red.

Painting his little fish.
And his turtle's head

Vann had to leave on Friday to go to his book club at
the library so, he finished painting his yesterday.
Harley's fabulous sea turtle!

Chayce's smiley guy!

Vann's colorful turtle!

The boys love helping me cook or bake or do anything in the kitchen.  And Chris and I both think it's awesome!  I'll be honest, they make me nervous sometimes...like chopping up veggies or even when Vann was flipping his french toast.  I so don't want them to get hurt, I mean what mom does.  But they're eager to learn so, we're all about it!

We made blueberry banana bread yesterday.  And it was a big hit!
They've almost eaten the whole loaf.

Making french toast a few mornings ago.  Not a piece left, they
gobbled them all up!  With a bunch of fruit too :)

I cannot get enough of this guy's crazy head of hair.
Part of me wants to cut it right now and part of me
never wants to cut it ever.

A little Ash funny yesterday as he's on the potty...
Ash - Mom I like your potty.
Me - Oh you do?!
Ash - Yep.  And I like our potty too.
Pause.
Ash - Actually I like all the potties.
Haha!
