Vann's little friend...

Vann found this little guy outside and just had to take some pics of him.  He grabbed my phone and starting clicking away...

Cute little caterpillar

Our good friend Laurie was in town this past weekend.  She took the boys mini golfing on Sunday while I prepped for the party.  They had a great time!

My sweet boys!

The boys with Laurie

We did a couple of more fun leaf activities the other day.  Here's some pics...

Leaf rubbings...always fun to do!

Leaf blowing...we didn't race, just had fun trying to blow them across the table with a straw.

And then we graphed all of the leaves we collected.  The boys divided them up mostly by color.

I had a baby appointment last night.  Just a quick check up to make sure things are going okay.  And they are :)  So, now we just wait till the little guy decided to make his appearance.  Chris has been out of town the past two nights, in Georgia for work, and we told the baby he needed to wait till Dad got back to come out. So far so good :)  He should be home around 9pm tonight so, anytime after that is fair game.  I'm as ready as I'm gonna be and can't wait to meet him!

Okay, well I'm off to listen to Vann read a chapter in his book to me...love this!  Have a good Friday!

Solar System

We've been learning about the solar system...it's one of the Magic School Bus monthly science kits...remember I signed up for that before Christmas last year.  Anyhow, they both just love talking about the planets, the stars, all of it.  We have some solar system books that are now falling apart because they've gotten so much love lately!

Speaking of books...my little Vann has become such a little reader.  I just love watching him snuggle up on the couch with a book.  He still comes across words he can't figure out, but for the most part he's doing really great!

Okay now for a few pics...

The boys painting the inside of a shoe box black.  We were making a constellation box.

It turned out pretty neat!

He's like 'what's up mom?'

He made this solar system poster all by himself!  He's gluing the sun on.

Now the planets

Drawing the orbits with chalk

Adding Saturn's rings...he also put some vertical rings on Uranus.

Then he made labels for each planet

He's so proud!
See that solar system hanging from the light in the kitchen...we made that a few days ago.  It was kinda hard to put together because the wire they sent was a bit flimsy and the balls were heavy so, that's why some of the wires are hanging so low...but whatever, they got the idea.

You'll notice in a few of the first pictures that Vann has a name tag on...it's from when he had his golf lesson that morning.  It was his last lesson and he was bummed it was over.  They practiced putting and he did great!  They had a few contests to see who could sink the putt first and Vann won two times!  He was jumping up and down on the green :)

Have you been watching the Olympics?  We have...I just love watching gymnastics, swimming, really all of it!  We didn't have a very productive weekend.  I did get some errands taken care of, but no big projects.  Oh well, there's always next weekend.  Chris is grilling some ribs right now...can't wait to eat those!  I love when he grills on the weekends.  Hope you're having a nice, relaxing day!

End of Week Recap

The boys rediscovered their pirate ships and castle this week.  They've been playing with them every free moment they have.  I love listening to them make believe together, it's pretty cute!

They even brought them outside to play with them!

Vann had another golf lesson on Thursday morning.  Here's a picture of him getting into his stance...

Isn't he just the cutest?!

One of our crafts this week was to make a pizza.  Here are the boys hard at work...

Vann gluing his sauce down

Chayce making a glue line for his cheese

He's telling me all about his pizza!

On Friday we put together a lot of puzzles and played a few different games...Connect Four, Dominoes, etc.

Chayce really likes doing puzzles all by himself

All done!!

While Chayce was working on his puzzle, Vann was doing a fun little thinking game...it's called Logic Links.

Trying to figure the clues out

Hmmm...

Let's try this

Or maybe this...

Got it!!

So happy!

Cute boy

So, that's a little recap of the end of our week.  We don't have much going on this weekend.  I ran a bunch of errands today.  And tomorrow I'm hoping I find the energy to finally paint the ceiling in the boys room.  Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Sports Classes

Chayce had his sports class Monday night.  They learned about hockey.  And amazingly enough nobody was injured with all the hockey sticks being swung around.  I thought for sure someone would get clocked in the head, but the coach had the parents help out a bit to keep the kiddos busy so, a random accident wouldn't happen.  Chayce and I passed the hockey puck back and forth quite a few times...he was good at it!  He also liked scoring goals.  Here's one pic I captured...

Then Vann had his first golf lesson on Tuesday morning.  He was so excited about it!  It's the only sport he's been interested in playing this spring/summer so, if he continues to like it we may have a little golfer in our fam :)  Chris loves to golf so, of course he's thrilled that Vann is into golf right now.

And I'm so excited...I finally learned how to zoom in on my iPhone!  It's not the best zoom and I can't go in super close or else it's all fuzzy, but at least I can get a little closer to the action.  Here's some pics from his golf lessons...

Coach helping him get his stance right

He's the second boy...he's watching the ball after he hit it

And I have one more picture for you...another belly shot!  Right now I'm 27 weeks along.  I feel the baby move all the time...I love it...it's one of my most favorite things!

Hope you're all having a fabulous day!

Mini Golf

We took the boys mini golfing this weekend and they both loved it!  It was a pretty basic mini golf place, not many curves or tricks, but this was exactly what we were looking for since it was the boys' first time doing it.  We didn't want them to get frustrated and upset when their ball wouldn't go in the hole.  And they both did great!  Vann and I had about the same strokes per hole...oh ya know between 4 and 6...yeah I'm not that great of a putter.  Anywho...and Chayce had a pretty good first swing and then he would just move the ball like 2 feet from the hole and then try to put it in from there...and believe it or not, he made it quite a few times on the first or second try.  Chris and Vann both got a hole in one on the same hole which was super fun!  I definitely foresee us going again sooner rather than later.

Little Chaycers getting ready to hit his ball

I didn't realize that I captured Vann's red ball just going in the hole!

Putting it under the bug car

Vann's sizing up the18th hole...the clown face.  If you made it in the nose you got a free game...nobody made it in the nose...

Chayce did make it in the clown's eye though!

So, that was one fun thing we did this weekend.  Another fun thing...well fun for me anyways...was getting a bunch of baby stuff from Buy Buy Baby.  I picked up some sheets, a mobile, a blanket and a bumper that all match...so exciting!  Now I can't wait to pick a paint color for his room...maybe this weekend, we'll see.  Anyhow, I keep slowly checking stuff off my never ending 'get ready for baby list'...it's got to get done at some point, right?!

Okay, well I'm off to finish my book.  I'm reading 'The Girl Who Played with Fire' by Stieg Larsson.  It's the second book in his series and I'm liking it.  Have you read any good  books lately??
