Catching up...

Happy September!  Wait, summer's over?!  How the heck did that happen?  Man I love summer, but I also love me some fall.  Cool nights, cozy sweaters, yummy soups, Grey's Anatomy.  Yeah fall's good stuff.

I thought I'd take a minute to catch up here on the blog so, here's a bit of our August in pictures.  It was a fun filled month!

Boys finished their library reading logs so, they got to pick out a free book...yay!

Glow sticks and smores...perfect.

I fell in love with freezer cooking a few weeks ago.  I cannot believe I've never done it before.  Best idea ever!

Oh my gosh, so remember those boys Vann and Chayce met while camping?  Well the older one, Bode, and Vann became pen pals!  I love this so much.  They've written each other 3 letters each so far.  Vann gets so excited to check the mail when he thinks a new one is on its way.  What I love about this the most is that it happened so organically...there was no planning on my part involved.  They made it happen and I hope they continue to be pen pals for a long time.

A walk to the park so this little cutie can swing.

Chayce and Mia are best buds :)

Just a boy and his sticks.  Love him!

My Chaycers and I.  He's such a goof!

My Sweets

Trampoline fun!

This little monkey could swing all day long!  He learned how to pump his legs so he literally swings for hours.

And this one fell in love with sewing!  Out of the blue he asked me to teach him.  Well I don't sew so, I bought him a book and we hit up Hobby Lobby.  I plan to do another post about all the amazing things he's created so far!

Monkey in the middle at the pool.

So the other night Ash got a mosquito bite above his eye on his forehead.  Well the next morning the poor thing couldn't even open his eye because it had swelled up so much.  Dumb mosquitos.  The left pic is right after he woke up...the right is a few hours later.
After some googling I decided to use fresh aloe to heal it up.  It took a few hours, but it worked and he could see again!  And it took the whole day for the swelling to completely go away, but I was so happy to find a natural way to help my Sweets.

Hope you have a wonderful first day of September!  I'll be back soon with some of our schooling adventures this week :)

Logic games

We did a lot of logic games for Letter L.  The kids love them and they're so good for their noggins.  Makes 'em think and I like that a lot!  We've collected quite a few over the years and oddly enough many of them start with the letter L.  We also played limbo outside which they just loved...lots of giggles!  The older two did lines of symmetry and similar exercises on Khan Academy while the little kids worked with lacing cards.

Laser Maze...they love this one!

Castle Logix...another
fav :)
Lokulus...this one's a
toughie, but we like it!

I tried to sneak a pic of Vann doing his math...he caught me!

Magformers...not an L, but
Ash wanted to play
with them.
I challenged
him to build a
house.

So he did!
He likes these a lot.

Shape-o-metry...again not an L, but it makes you think.

How cute are these two?!  They did a bunch of pages of Word Ladders together.  It was adorable to hear them try to figure the answers out as a team.

He's just as cute as can be!
That afternoon Chris golfed with a buddy.  I squeezed in an amazing hour of yoga at Bloom.  And the boys closed the pool down!  I'm so happy we all got to do a little of what we love.  Made for a great day!

And this...I love it.

This was the next morning...he was being silly :)

The boys worked hard cleaning the car out.  We're driving to Kansas tonight and I always like to start with a clean slate.  Even though it'll be a mess again once we get on the road ha!

Weekend fun!

Playing a little catch up here.  It won't take long to get caught up though!  I took the boys to the pool again last Friday.  They love that place!

My sweet thang :)

Lazy river action
I'm not sure why, but they
have to stay in their tubes.

Vann loves the zip line!

Saturday we signed the older two up for fall soccer.  Then Chaycers went to a library class.  It was called Grossology and was right up his alley.  It involved poop!  They learned how looking at poo from different animals (even if it's fossilized) can teach you a lot about that animal.  I still remember dissecting an owl's pellet when I was little.  I loved it!  Anyhow, this class was so Chayce :)

Then we celebrated Mia's birthday.  Ash is whacking the pinata.

Most of the munchkins.  Ash and another kiddo are not in the picture.

Singing Happy Birthday!

It was pretty toasty out on Saturday so, the kids played with water guns, a small pool, and this jump house.  They did their best to get the slide wet which made for slippery fun!

Sunday I took the boys to
the Compassion Experience.
It was one of those really
makes you appreciate all
you have moments.
Lil' Ash checking out the 'food'.

Sparked lots of good convos after hearing how these two kids from other countries lived.

It was a great weekend!  For Father's Day dinner I made Chris homemade White Castle burgers.  He looooved them!!  So much better for you too.  He was a happy camper :)

Hangman & Hearts

Letter H is in the books!  We played Hangman, an oldie but goodie that the boys love.  Practiced our handwriting.  Chaycers is printing, Vann is working on his cursive and little Ash is doing mostly capital letters.  We learned about horses.  Did you know that a female foal is called a filly?  I'm not sure how, but I didn't know that!  We made homemade salsa.  Ash helped me cut some cilantro from our garden.  Fresh herbs are my fav.  We chatted about our hearts in our bodies.  We felt them beating and talked a little about how they work.  Then I showed them the easy way to cut a heart out of paper.  Ash was amazed!

Chaycers and I playing
Hangman
We have this cool
Hangman game

It's great for car rides too.

He was so cute cutting out his hearts.

He folded the paper in half.
I drew the line for him and
then he cut it out.

Chaycers got in on the action too.

I love when he concentrates.

They wanted to glue them
on another piece of paper.
He loved his hearts!

Peek-a-boo!

Look Mom!

Right here is perfect.

We hit the pool after work again.  I packed up a quick dinner (ham and cheese tortilla roll ups, blueberries, peaches and baby tomatoes...easy peasy) and off we went!  I'm in love with our pool pass.  It will get a ton of use this summer for sure!

The boys playing catch.

Ash would throw the ball...

And the older two would try to get it first.

These two also rode on all the slides, went around the lazy river, played with a few friends they knew.  Lots of fun!

My Sweets and I...I heart that cute face :)
He was all about me throwing the diving sticks and him retrieving them.  We did this over and over again!
